Create an electronic photo album of your memories

B&L Photo Lab will turn slides, negatives, transparencies, photographs, artwork or flatwork into digital files. Instead of hauling out the slide projector, thumbing through stacks of old prints or holding negatives up to a light, you can see your memories as an electronic photo album.

B&L Photo works with you to produce an electronic photo album of your memories. Your album can be made of slides or prints or documents or any combination. You may submit items of any size or format. You can present B&L Photo with any combination of slides, photos, negatives, paintings, artwork, flatwork and documents of any size.

Your slides can be mounted or not. Your negatives can be in rolls, strips or cut individually. Photos can be loose, mounted, in frames or in albums. B&L Photo will put your items on electronic media in a sequence determined by you. Photos can be put into separate folders with custom names. B&L Photo uses four different professional scanners to convert all manner of transparencies and negatives into digital files.

All photos, documents, paintings, art work and flat work are photographed with a 65 megapixel digital camera with Carl Zeiss lenses. At B&L Photo you talk to the people who do your work. All work is done in our store by Bob or Lauren, the owners of B&L Photo Lab, who have a combined experience in photography of over 90 years.

B&L Photo can convert all types of photographic media, artwork, documents, and flatwork into digital files for viewing on a computer or TV.

B&L Photo will accept color or black and white slides, transparencies and negatives of all sizes and formats (110 through 8x10). Slides can be mounted in paper mounts, plastic mounts, glass mounts or unmounted. Slides and negatives can be individual negatives, strips or rolls. In addition, B&L Photo will work with glass magic lantern slides, autochromes and glass plate negatives. B&L Photo will also handle nitrate base negatives in condition 1, 2 or 3.

B&L Photo will accept photographs, artwork, flatwork and documents from locket size through 4 feet x 6 feet. These can be loose, mounted, framed, under glass or in albums.

B&L Photo will convert any combination of media into digital files. Files can be placed on electronic media in specific order and placed in custom named folders if requested. Before conversion to digital form the item being converted is cleaned with an electrostatic brush. The item is then scanned or photographed depending on if it is transparent or reflective.  Converted files are corrected for color, density and contrast. This is done at no additional cost. (Damaged items can be restored at additional cost.)
Photos that have been digitized as J-PEG can be viewed on any computer either PC or MAC and many smart TV's.

The following is the procedure that is used to convert materials into digital files:

Each item is surface dusted with an electro-static vacuum brush.

The item is then photographed or scanned as a preview image.

The preview image is then corrected for density and contrast, and if it is a color image, color.

The image is cropped full frame to produce a print that is 10” in its longest dimension.

The item is then developed as a 300 DPI J-PEG file.

Each file is opened and inspected to check the density, contrast and color a final time.

The files are placed on DVD, memory stick or hard drive.

*Memory sticks and hard drives will be charged for, unless supplied by the customer.

*The per item cost will increase if B&L Photo is requested to make files at a higher resolution than 300 DPI or if a greater than 10 inch out-put print is requested.

All work is done in our store by Bob and Lauren.

If all you look at are prices, B&L Photo may seem higher. But if you look at both prices and services, you will see that B&L Photo far outshines its competitors. If your slides are like most people’s slides, and range from under-exposed to over-exposed, are dusty or dirty, and have begun to fade, B&L Photo will give you the best result. In addition, if you wish to have a combination of slides, negatives, photos, documents, etc. converted to digital files, B&L Photo can handle all your need under one roof.

Here is the price schedule for converting materials into digital files:

These prices include scanning the original, the creation of a J-PEG file and placing the file on electronic media. These prices include correcting the digital files for color, density and contrast.

We also try our best to bring back to a normal appearance over-exposed, under-exposed and faded images. The files are placed onto digital media supplied by B&L Photo Lab at an additional cost or placed onto digital media supplied by the customer at no additional cost.
